Five ways to make sure your building is code compliant

You've spent months maybe even a year or two planning for the grand opening of your new business.  You're concept and ideas have all come to fruition, you've rented a building , you've hired your employees and you've set that big day to open up shop and start recouping some of your investments.  But the day before you are supposed to open you get a visit from the fire marshall or the city inspector telling you that your exit signs and emergency lights are no longer code compliant.  Now, you can't open the doors of your business until these issues are addressed and taken care of.   Your grand opening has been set back, your losing money, and who knows when you'll receive and have your new exit signs and emergency lights installed.

Here are five ways to make sure your building is code compliant before your big opening.

  • 1) Contact you local fire marshall or city inspector well before your opening date.
  • 2) Once you know how many Exit Signs and Emergency Lights you need, call a representative at Exit Sign Warehouse so they can explain to you the different options that are available to you and so that you can place your order.
  • 3) Place a call to the electrician of your choice or have Exit Sign Warehouse refer an electrician to you to insure an installation date of your new exit signs and emergency lights.
  • 4) Once your signs and lights are installed make sure to self test each of them.
  • 5) Place a call to your Fire Marshall or city inspector and let them know that your are up to code and ready to open!
  • In the event that you need signs in rush, all exit signs and emergency lights at Exit Sign Warehouse are in stock and can be shipped for next day air.
